Jaya Mohan (JM) boarded the truck with bundles of clothing material to be transported to shops in another city in India. JM was sitting beside the driver in the cabin. The truck belonged to Raj Kumar (RK), a wealthy businessman. He is in the clothing business. He purchases sarees from Kanchi, Dharmavaram, Pochampally, Gadwal, Benaras, Uppada, Narayanpet, Venkatagiri, Kota, Chandheri, Paithani, Lucknow Zardozi, Chickan kari, Bandhani, Mysore, and Organza, among others. He pays an initial advance to the weavers. He gives them the designs of borders, pallu, the body of the saree and the blouse part. He has a team of specialist designers who graduated from the country's top fashion design schools. Hence, his shops are famous among upper-class ladies. He owns a chain of shops in all major cities across India. The head office is in Mumbai. He kept managers at every place to report day-to-day sales and their requirements. He maintains a fleet of transport vehicles to supply the necessary materials to various destinations within a short period. JM is KR's classmate cum friend. KR made him responsible for shipping and transportation.

*

After an hour, KR received a call from the police stating that the truck had met with an accident, and one of the occupants had died on the spot. Another was injured and admitted to the nearby hospital. They identified the dead as Jagan Mohan(JM), from his Aadhaar and Identity cards, an employee of your company. The injured is the driver of the truck. He is not in danger, but unconscious. The truck is badly damaged. The police took several photos from various angles, moved the truck to the police station, and filed a report on the accident and death for further investigation.

*

JM will be given a list of bundles of sarees to be transferred from one location to another, depending on the demand at each place. The bundles will be sealed. JM did not know which bundle consisted of what. His responsibility is to transfer them to the concerned. RK orders designers and weavers according to the needs of the place and the state. These requirements vary from time to time, depending on local and religious festivals, the marriage season, and other significant occasions in that area.

RK has a record of the seasonal and yearly requirements of different places and their preferences in saree selection and orders accordingly. JM and others in the shops had no idea how these material orders were decided or who they were placed with. RK maintains the secrecy of all these issues.

*

RK's wife, Dhanya Sri(DS), is a computer science graduate. She is a silent partner in all his dealings. They get up at 5 am and, after having tea, sit together to decide on the day's material requirements and discuss them with the relevant people on their mobile phones. She keeps a record of every detail on her laptop. They complete this activity by 7 am, and RK gets ready for his shop's business requirements. He will be present in one of the business shops. He keeps a room on the top floor for himself, making him available to managers. He will send a copy of the excess material, including the requirements, to DS over the mail so that she keeps a record of these for discussion the following morning.

RK retrieves the day's transaction history from all the shops and reviews the account statements. Every transaction will be automatically recorded on the relevant accountant's laptop. They check and report the balance statements to him the next day.   He comes for lunch, takes a nap, and goes to his office by 5 pm. He returns home by 10 pm for dinner and sleep. DS will be waiting for him.

*

One day, RK wanted to visit one of the shops and wanted JM to join him in the car. They were sitting side by side on the back seat. On the way, KR kept his eyeglasses between him and JM. As they were proceeding, they had a bump at one of the speed breakers, and JM's left hand fell on the glasses. The eyeglasses and the frame were broken. JM’s palm was slightly injured. KR asked JM to buy new ones from an eyewear shop for him. JM took them to the shop and got a new frame and new glasses fixed the next day. KR was happy with the new glasses.

*

KR and DS were regularly checking the details of transactions. After a few days, they noticed that sales nationwide had declined. KR and DS were unable to conclude the reason. They were in a dilemma.

KR's research team were showing the requirement, but the sales in his shops were not tallying with the research results. He talked to his research team. They were firm with their ground reports.

He employed salespeople in the opponents' shops to inform him whenever they got new stock.

He received reports that the opponents' shops had gained business during this period. They were selling the same material that he wanted to sell, following regional and local requirements. This was a surprise for him. KR was spending money and time evaluating the criteria. He wanted to know the secret behind their sales. In this situation, KR could not understand how his opponents could think of the same material in multiple locations. If they work independently, it will undoubtedly be different from KR's. Hence, KR doubted that some mischief was occurring within his organisation and wanted to investigate it further.

*

He discussed it with his wife, DS, and she also noticed it from the account books. She was worried that their orders and shipping information, which were secret and known only to her and KR, were being leaked to their opponents.

They were getting reports from their secret agents in the opponents' shops, but could not help stop it. One day, early in the morning, when DS and KR were ready for a discussion on the material shifting that day, KR could not locate his eyeglasses. He remembered having kept them on the teapoy in front of the sofa while watching TV that night, but they were not there. He and DS searched for them but were unable to locate them. He continued without glasses. DS helped him with reading the print to him. They searched for his glasses in the home in vain. He got tested and got another eyeglasses.

*

They were continuing their work. To their surprise, their accounts were showing an increase in sales. KR's secret agents' reports indicated that the opponents' shipping differed from that of KR. This was a clear indication that there had been an earlier leakage of material shipping. DS and KR thought God had helped them.

*

When he went to the shop, JM was surprised at the new eyeglasses. He asked why he changed his glasses. KR said, "Yesterday night, I kept them somewhere after the news on TV. Since then, they were not to be found. Hence, I had to change."

JM kept quiet, looking worried, and did not ask for further information.

*

DS was always thinking about the sudden starting of leakage and its stoppage. She could not understand how these things happened. She looked into her diary for the details. She found something strange. The leakage began after the day KR changed his glasses and stopped when he changed them again. She did not believe that the eyewear made a difference. She was searching for information on and after these two distinctive days. She could not come to any conclusion about how the leakage had happened.

After about a fortnight, she wanted to change the door and window curtains and asked the servant maid to change them. Upon changing the curtains, the servant maid found old eyeglasses of KR on the window edge behind the curtain, where he had been sitting to watch TV. She handed them to DS. She casually checked the glasses. She could notice a slight change in the end piece at the junction of the right temple and the rim. She unscrewed the temple piece. She discovered that the temple piece end was slightly cut, and a metal piece was inserted there. She patiently removed the piece. To her surprise, it was a microchip.

She, being a computer science engineer, wanted to test it and inserted it into her mobile. To her astonishment, it was connected to their opponents. She was dumb stricken. How could this happen? Someone had planted a microchip in my husband's eyewear and connected it to the opponent's mobile device through AI to record his conversations.

*

When KR came home, she had shown him the temple of the previous glasses, the microchip and its connection to the opponent's mobile.

KR thought it over and said, "On the day when my glasses were broken, I asked JM to get the new glasses from the shop. He brought them the next day. JM might be involved in fixing the chip.

*

JM has been working with KR for over ten years, since the start of business. KR's shops increased multifold. JM, being a classmate of KR, was jealous of KR. The opponent shop owners, aware of JM's jealousy towards KR,  sought JM's help to their advantage. They were envious of KR's development and wanted to put him down. They wanted to know the secret behind his success so that they could also develop by using KR's techniques.

JM said, "I am unaware of how KR does the business. I am responsible for transporting vehicles and the movement of material bundles. I don't know what the bundles contain."

The opponent shop owners said, "We just want to know which material is being shifted from which place and supplied to which place. These details will suffice."

JM said, " I have a plan to get the information directly from KR, but at a cost."

Opponent shop owners wanted to find out how it was possible. He said, "I have my plans, and you will get the information shortly."

They paid whatever money he demanded. JM set the microchip in the frame of the eyewear, with direct contact from KR's mobile to the opponent. The opponents were aware of the daily changes in material requirements through their early morning discussions with DS and the manufacturers.

JM didn't think of its long-term effects. JM has the least idea of the amount of research that is behind this shifting of materials.

*

The following day, KR called JM to his home and offered him tea. After making general enquiries, KR showed the microchip.

JM sensed that something had gone wrong and wanted to leave. KR forced him to sit. KR took his mobile and switched it off. JM asked for an excuse. KR said, “Don’t do such things in future.”

 JM took leave of KR.

*

After KR changed his glasses, the opponents no longer received daily updates about the new stock.

They enquired of JM, "He told them that there is a change. You wait for some time, I will try to get you the information."

They were concerned that JM might disclose their information to KR, which could have a detrimental impact on their business relationship.

*

The next day, JM boarded the truck and died accidentally. The driver was injured and hospitalised. KR consoled JM's family and children, and attended the funeral. He gave JM's wife a suitable job in his shop.

The police investigated the accident and determined that there was no fault on the part of the driver. It was due to an opposite vehicle coming in their way and the driver trying to avoid hitting a tree on its left side, where JM was sitting, and he died.

After the recovery, the driver resigned from KR's company and joined the competitor's shop with a considerably higher salary.

KR thanked his wife, DS, for finding out the real culprit.
