Interview
1. Kindly introduce yourself to our readers.
Sweta Gupta… working in a manufacturing company. It takes great courage to keep a soft heart in a world of professionals.
2. What inspired you to begin writing? Please share your writing journey.
I never knew I had a gift for writing. During Covid, one evening while having tea with my family, a few lines kept echoing in my mind. I left my tea midway and quickly wrote them down. When I finished, I couldn’t believe that I had written them myself. It felt like an akashvani—a voice meant only for me—which I captured on paper in just ten minutes. That became my first poem, “Zindagi ke Panne.” From that moment on, there was no looking back.
3. Which genres or themes do you love writing the most?
For me writing is melting down with emotions. As Shelly says "Our sweetest songs are those that tell us of saddest thought"…I write about relationships, love, heartbreaks…this is where you see the most of emotions.
4. Where do most of your writing ideas come from?
I think stories keep floating in and around you. Some touches your heart and that comes out in writing.
5. What comes first for you — plot, character, or emotion?
Emotion and character go hand in hand later comes the plot and how you portray it.
6. Who is one writer or storyteller that has influenced your work?
I really admire Gulzar Saab, Javed Akhtar.
7. What kind of books you like to read?
I am a vivid reader and often read blogs by Gaur Gopal Das, Osho, and Sadhguru. Their writings and teachings transport you to a completely different zone. I don’t look for something in particular… when I come across something that catches my attention… I bag it in.
8. A writer you admire?
Again, Gulzar saab , Javed Akhtar, Kaifi Azmi also Rahat Indori.
9. Your comfort read — one book you can read again and again?
Daniel Steel’s “Mirror Image” … it immerses me in a completely different state of mind.”
10. If you could give only one writing tip to aspiring authors, what would it be?
When something comes to your mind simply pen it down, even if it appears incomplete at the moment… later all those small writings, even the two liners leaves a great impact on your writing. Just go with the flow, don’t push yourself hard to deliver something. Allow the thoughts to pour in and your pen will do the magic!
11. The hardest part about writing?
Coming out of writer’s blockage.
12. The most rewarding part about writing?
There’s someone I know who was detected with Cancer. I lacked words to approach her. To break the ice, one day I shared my recently written poem…I was amazed to hear when she said” mein tumhare poems ka wait kar rahi thee”, that truly touched my heart! I believe if any one of my poems has made little bit of difference in a person’s life…then nothing can be rewarding than that.
13. What is your future writing plan? Which other themes or subjects would you like to write about in the future?
I have never tried writing a humorous story because I feel adding humour in writing is bit challenging. Am going through a writer’s blockage now.
14. How you got introduced to StoryBerrys? Kindly share your experience about StoryBerrys.
When I wrote my first poem, I somehow knew this needs to be published because there is more to come. I knew Rakhi ji who had started “Storyberry’s”, but I was not sure whether my writing was as per the standard. Am grateful to her for giving me a broader platform for not just accepting my creations but also for launching me as a host in talkshow “Gupshup”. I am now a proud “Storyberrian”!
