Interview
1. Kindly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Meenu Yatin , a home maker turned poetess who puts her thoughts into words in the form of literature.
2. What inspired you to begin writing? Please share your writing journey.
I had a keen interest in literature and writing since my days at college , but I never showcased my work in the public sphere or any social circle before joining StoryBerrys. In essence , it was a personal activity confined within the pages of my diary , which some of my friends encouraged me to publish . Hence , I started writing on StoryBerrys which started my journey as a writer.
3. Which genres or themes do you love writing the most?
Though I write about a lot of things , the genres that I find the most intriguing are Relationships and Human behaviour.
4. Where do most of your writing ideas come from?
Observation. I find myself to be good at observing people, their attitude and behaviour , even subtle changes in them. Moreover, I find empathy as a great source of inspiration for writing.
5. What comes first for you — plot, character, or emotion?
My writings are emotion and character centric. A primary reason being that I write more poems than proses or stories.
6. Who is one writer or storyteller that has influenced your work?
The list is never – ending . These include Shri Ram Dhari Singh Dinkar Ji , Robert Frost , Maya Angelou , John Elia , Jane Austen , Charles Dickens and many more.
7. What kind of books do you like to read?
Primarily, I find the genres of Romance and Murder Mystery quite interesting to read . I also prefer reading Coming of The Age novels , generally centred around women protagonists.
8. A writer you admire
A tough question indeed . When we talk about poets, Shri Ram Dhari Singh Dinkar Ji tops the list for me , while I prefer Jane Austen when it comes to novels.
9. Your comfort read — one book you can read again and again?
I would say Dinkar ji’s ‘Rashmirathi’ is one such work which I could read again and again. I would also like to mention Dinkar Ji ‘s poem titled ‘Koi Arth Nahi ‘ , which is a comfort read.
10. If you could give only one writing tip to aspiring authors, what would it be?
Read tons of books and practice writing more.
11. The hardest part about writing?
Lack of inspiration. This problem gets on my nerves sometimes.
12. The most rewarding part about writing?
The most rewarding aspect of writing is when people relate themselves to an author’s work.
13. What is your future writing plan? Which other themes or subjects would you like to write about in the future?
Firstly , after I had published my first book ‘Chaalis Ke Paar ‘ – a collection of poems – my goal was to work upon my second book , which is almost completed. Another plan that I want to accomplish in this field is to start writing short stories.
14. How did you get introduced to StoryBerrys? Kindly share your experience about StoryBerrys.
As I already mentioned, StoryBerrys was the first platform which published my craft . My best friend, who always wanted me to publish my work , introduced me to StoryBerrys . My friend's husband, who also writes on StoryBerrys , introduced me to Ms. Rakhi Sunil Kumar, who appreciated my work and encouraged me to write more and more. I will be eternally grateful to StoryBerrys for providing me the platform and support that i needed to discover my literary self .
