Bharat Simha is seventy-two and retired. His wife, Shambhavi, is seventy and a homemaker. They have a daughter, Aamodini, and a son, Sri Chakra. The daughter resembles her mother, and the son his father. They both did their PG, worked and settled in the USA. Aamodini is married, and Sri Chakra is a bachelor. They are at different places.

Aamodini was pregnant and requested that her parents come and stay with her. Shambhavi went, and Bharat Simha did not go, as his movements would be confined to home without the help of his son-in-law.

*

Since their marriage, Shambhavi has preferred to be a homemaker and has handled all Bharat Simha’s necessities, from diet to dresses. She was crucial in selecting the children’s schools, colleges, and courses of study. To Bharat Simha, the house was heaven.

She planned short-duration tours to devotional places to imbibe devotion in the children.

She developed a good relationship with the women in the apartment complex by inviting and visiting them on festivals and special occasions.

*

Bharat Simha was after improving his qualifications and the latest technology. He had no time for the house.

He gave his salary to Shambhavi on the first of every month. She carried out all the household expenditures and savings.

Bharat Simha was enjoying home, office and life with Shambhavi.

*

After Shambhavi left for the USA, he gained real experience managing a home. He had difficulty selecting a dress and taking the correct medicines. His sugar levels and blood pressure varied, which caused him to visit the hospital.

BS blamed himself for not being acquainted and managing the house. He found himself handicapped in all home day-to-day decisions, such as what to eat and dress. He thought that Shambhavi’s care made his life miserable.

He felt that his marriage to Shambhavi had made him waste his youth. BS thought his youth was a failure and unsuccessful.

*

With these things rooted in his brain, he craved to live his past life now and show Shambhavi his capabilities in managing the home. He prayed to God the Almighty 24/7 to give him a chance to live his past youth and undo his past.

*

That night, Shambhavi appeared in his dream and told him, “You are not accustomed to doing all these things. I will return as early as possible.”

BS was furious at his wife’s words: “I can do these things alone; I don’t need your suggestions.”

Her words did not convince him, and he again prayed to God to help him relive his youth.

*

God appeared before him and said,  “My Dear Bharat Simha, I am pleased with your prayers. Your desire to become young is unnatural. To date, no one has requested to relive a young age. However, I will grant you six  days to experiment at your young age.” Having said these words, God disappeared.

*

He looked in the mirror in the morning and was astonished. He gained his young age—twenty-five years. He became Young Bharat Simha(YBS). His white hair on the head was gone and replaced with black silky hair. All the wrinkles on his face, hands, and legs were gone. His eyes were bright, and his face was beaming with energy. His hunchback and knee pains were gone, and he could walk straight and at speed. He could see things, read without glasses, and hear the slightest sound without hearing aids. His teeth and gums were not paining while eating. He thanked God.

*

On the first day, to outperform Shambhavi, he wanted to cook by himself and show her his capability. He used YouTube postings to help him cook. The dishes were not tasty. He did not venture into breakfast preparation, as they were cumbersome.

He made several mistakes in selecting the ingredients, their quantity, and the amount of water for correct consistency and frying in oil on the pan. The final product was either half-cooked or more or less of salt or chillies.

Shambhavi prepared breakfast within a half-hour, and her preparations were tasty.

He had difficulty cutting vegetables, as each had a different process for cutting sizes and preparing curries. He was confused about the ingredients for frying, as he did not know their English or his mother tongue names.

On the second day, he tried cooking rice. He made mistakes in the quantity of water but learned the correct amount. With less water, the rice gets charred, and with more water, it becomes semi-fluid. In both states, one will not be able to eat.

*

On the third day, he purchased vegetables from the vegetable shop.

A twenty-five-year-old beautiful girl approached him and said, “How are you, Sri Chakra?” She mistook YBS for her college classmate.

I have been looking for you for the last year. I left my job in Australia and stayed with my parents here.

YBS looked at her. She came to their house with Sri Chakra during their studies. They were classmates and moved closely together. She is from a well-to-do family. Her parents were not interested in marriage to Sri Chakra. She chose a job in Australia.

She is Abhirupa, which means beautiful in every sense. True to her name, she was of standard height and fair, with bright, big eyes, a sharp nose, a small mouth, and a well-structured body. Her semi-circular cut bobbed hair below her neck covered her cut shirt. She wore a pink-coloured printed shirt over blue jeans and black shoes. This dress made her look more attractive.

YBS said, “We will walk to my flat and discuss there.”

As it was getting late, her mother called, and she went home with vegetables. She told YBS, “I will meet you tomorrow,” and took his address.

*

On the following fourth day, Abhirupa came to the flat at about 11:00 a.m. when YBS cut vegetables.

She observed that there were no signs of a woman’s presence. She could find a photo of Bharat Simha, Shambhavi, Aamodini, and her husband sitting and Sri Chakra standing behind his parents. This confirmed that Sri Chakra was unmarried. She took the cutting knife from YBS and prepared vegetable dishes. She served him, and they both ate together.

She asked YBS to book a cab to her home. He said, “He does not have the App.” Then, she confirmed that he was not Sri Chakra. His behaviour shows that he is not Sri Chakra but knows him intimately. Yet,  he does not misbehave with her, talks to her affectionately, and keeps a distance.

She approached him and said, “ Dear Sri Chakra,  I am vexed with this waiting. My parents are looking for a marriage proposal. Why don’t you meet my parents?”

Saying these words, she left.

*

With the complications in cooking, YBS  decided not to cook but to dine in hotels.

God gave him the physique of youth but did not change his brain, which was of an older person. He was not using the latest apps. YBS  was unfamiliar with G-Pay, etc. He was using cash and cheques.

On the sixth day,  people who saw YBS considered him Sri Chakra.

He was in a dilemma because he could not talk with any known person or introduce himself as YBS. If he had told the truth, people would not have believed him and thought Sri Chakra had gone mad. He realised how his transformation brought these problems.

*

He went to hotels to dine. He could make his morning and evening tea. His wife, Shambhavi, never allowed him to eat outside foods, saying they would spoil his health.

When he was out for dinner, a friend of Sri Chakra met him and said, “Hi, Sri Chakra. How come you are in India?” YBS looked doubtingly at him. Ramachandran was surprised at YBS’s inability to recognise him.

YBS, trying to avoid Ramachandran, said, “I am in a hurry; I will talk to you later,”  and left that place. Ramachandran was sceptical and doubted YBS’s behaviour.

He called Sri Chakra to find out the details. To his surprise, Sri Chakra answered his WhatsApp call. Ramachandran said, “Someone resembling you is in India.”

Surprised, Sri Chakra contacted his sister. Aamodini told Shambhavi, and she contacted BS. He answered the phone, and they were satisfied.

She told him about Ramachandran’s call. BS said he met him in the morning and tried to talk to me as if I were Sri Chakra. I was busy and could not answer him; he might have doubted.

BS understood that his transformation into a youth was taking unexpected turns. This led to rumours about Sri Chakra’s health and created problems for his son, Sri Chakra.   YBS became vexed and considered stopping his becoming a youth drama.

That night, YBS prayed to God to relieve him of his youth. I had a great experience of it. Please give me back my old age.

God told YBS, “You had parents, brothers, and sisters at your young age. You were born and brought up in a village. You had friends from school and college. You joined the job and were married. You shifted to the city. You had brothers-in-law and their relationships and office colleagues.

Things changed with age. You had a social circle, moving with them to hotels and parties, celebrating festivals, and visiting temples with your wife and children. Your parents are no longer alive, your brothers and sisters got married and moved to different places, and some of your relatives and colleagues have shifted to their children’s places or left for heavenly abode.

Technology and governments have changed during this period in the country and worldwide. You have undergone all these changes and grown to be an older person. I can’t create an old society, environment, or political situation to make you relive your young age. I can’t take you back to the past.

You can’t defy these changes. Change is a natural process.  You can’t defy these changes.  Change in all creatures is a certainty, and their death is a universal truth.

God continued, “If you want to relive young, you must be born as a child and then grow along with the changes.”

Saying these words, God disappeared. YBS became Bharat Simha.

Bharat Simha thanked God for making him realise the problems of  “Age Reversal to Young”. When he looked in the mirror, he was the same seventy-two-year-old Bharat Simha.

In these six days, YBS encountered the difficulties of a reformed young age. Shambhavi called and told BS, “ As I am not there with you,  don’t trouble yourself thinking about the past unsuccessful events. Don’t keep your mind vacant,  try doing something creative. You will be active.”
*

Bharat Simha wanted to be active. He informed Shambhavi about Abhirupa. She knew her and said, “She would be an appropriate match for Sri Chakra.”

BS met Abhirupa’s parents. They were happy with the proposal as they had no other option as Abhirupa was bent on marrying Sri Chakra.

Sri Chakra was happy that Abhirupa’s parents agreed to their marriage and thanked his father for the initiative.

That night, BS thought God’s purpose in transforming him to YBS was to arrange the marriage of Sri Chakra and Abhirupa.

*

Aamodini gave birth to a baby girl, and they were all happy. Shambhavi returned to India. Abhirupa and Sri Chakra’s marriage was lavishly celebrated.   The newly married couple left for the USA. BS and Shambhavi were together in the flat.

 *

Bharat Simha hugged Shambhavi and praised her for managing the home perfectly. He thanked God for giving him such a lovely and caring wife and prayed to God to provide him with the same wife in the coming incarnations.
