Part 3 – Momma, Let me stay with you!
SHIBI’s DIARY
My name is SHIBI, I am 6 months old Beagle puppy and this is my diary. In this diary, I shall write about my life. You may question, ‘Can dogs write? What stories do they have to tell? They only eat, sleep and bark.’
‘Yess…Why dogs cannot have stories? Are we not living beings? Do we not go through tough times? Is our life honky-dory always as they show in movies?’
Part 3 – Momma, Let me stay with you!
My first day at my new home was my dream come true. I got good food, a very soft bed, peaceful sleep and love from my new parents and Big Bro. But my happiness lasted for a very short time.
The next day, I was taken to a Vet again for vaccination and deworming. My original owner along with my seller Jack was present at the Vet centre. They handed over all my documents to Big Bro. I ignored them completely. I did not even want to look at them. They tried to cuddle me and show love but I refused to come out of my Big bro arms. They were my past, and no longer mattered to me. I was looking forward to my Present.
That night was troublesome for me for the deworming, so was for my new parents as I littered everywhere. I noticed their troubled faces as they kept cleaning the house. This continued for a few days. I could not control my bowel, and it was free fall everywhere. Big Bro was on the task of cleaning, and so were momma and papa. I could only pity them as their very neat and decorated house was turned upside down.
In this few days, I enjoyed all the attention I was getting. I enjoyed being pampered with food and toys. I did not wanted to come out of the bliss.
After the deworming effect was over, I was once again active, but I continued my naughty acts to get the attention. I enjoyed tearing all the cushions, chappals and clothes, whatever I laid my eyes on.
I was enjoying my freedom, I could roam in the whole house without being chained, I could do shushu-potty anywhere and every corner of the house, I wished, and I could tear anything I wanted – I hardly cared about the trouble my new parents were going through.
Momma was especially frustrated to see everything being tossed around. but I hardly cared as I had all attention of Big bro. I was his muse, sweet heart ! And one day, the frustration erupted like a dead volcano suddenly turned alive. I did not understand the reason why Momma was upset over Big bro, only I could sense I was the reason. She yelled on him ! I barked and jumped on Momma as I did not like her shouting at my Big Bro. I think that act made her, and Big bro very angry.
In the evening, I could hear a serious discussion going on between the three of them. I stayed inside the room, holding my breath to understand, peeping sometimes, trying to understand what was the discussion all about.
Finally, after some time, Big Bro came inside the room, and told me –‘Be a good dog, you have got one month, if you do not behave properly then I have to give you back to Jack. Momma is not ready to keep you.’
I had tears in my eyes, ‘Back to Jack? What have I done? I am a puppy and was enjoying my new home! ‘
Big Bro then got busy on his laptop. Again, everything was the same in the house, the calmness returned, but I was deeply scared, and anxious.
I knew momma was not very comfortable with my presence in the house but then she was the one who used to do everything for me– feeding, cleaning and also playing with me.
When I had come into this family, I used to think of Big Bro as the strongest person as he saved me from Jack, then I felt it was Papa as he was head of the family, but today I realised it was Momma! She had the real power in hand, as she could make me leave this house. Woof !
So, I decided to be a good girl, a well-behaved dog, even if it requires becoming more like a Human.
You may ponder, do dogs understand what humans communicate, what they want, their threat, their love??? Yes, very much! I clearly understood that I have to behave if I want to stay with them. When they were doing so much for me, then I can at least be a good dog…! Ha!
Next – Harsh, my new friend.
